Behati Prinsloo was born to Boet Prinsloo, a church minister, and Magda Rossouw, who ran a bed and breakfast. Her modeling career began at age 16 when she was discovered by model scout Sarah Doukas while vacationing in Cape Town. Doukas, the founder of Storm Model Management, invited her to London to start her modeling career. ​
